Foodies and wine aficionados come from far and wide to sip and savour our flavours. Come explore and taste the difference the terroir of Route 97 makes to food and drink created here. Have dinner on a patio overlooking orchards, vineyards and lakes, then be entertained at an outdoor concert as the sun sets behind the band.
Vineyards and Wineries
You’ll find vineyards and wineries throughout Route 97 from its southernmost tip in WA and up past Kamloops, BC in the north. Enjoy a sip and dine experience as you thrill to a twilight Tuscan style dinner in a vineyard and walk the oak barrel cellars while sipping the flavours of our land.
Enjoy yoga, dine on the patio, take an art class, attend a small plates reception under the stars or enjoy an concert with Okanagan Lake as your backdrop. And all of that comes with some delicious wines! Several of the area wineries have regular events similar to these.
Winery restaurants either grow ingredients on their property or source them locally. Some wineries have accommodations. Imagine waking up to a view of rolling hills with row after row of ripe grapes hanging from the vine!
Wine Trails, Thompson Okanagan, CA
There are many wine trails throughout our area. Take a self-guided tour or sign up with one of the many tour operators. You can tour by bus, luxury SUV, electric bike, regular bike and even by kayak! From the Kamloops Wine Trail in the north, the Golden Mile in the South and the Similkameen Valley in the west, you’ll find plenty of varietals to sniff, sip, and swirl.

Other Tasty Drinks
While wine is part of our culinary story, it’s not the only beverage we offer to sip and savour. We have a variety of hand crafted beers, ciders, meads, fruit wines, liqueurs, and liquor from Wenatchee, WA to Cache Creek, BC. Our lovely libations are created using local ingredients whenever possible. Buy a bottle or two. It’s a great way to take the taste of Route 97 home with you.
We Love Our Farmers
Agriculture is a big part of who we are, many of our farms are multigenerational and several are organic. Our farmers and orchardists take pride in what they produce. Stop by a Farmers’ Market or fruit/produce stand and experience biting into a crisp, ripe apple, or wiping butter off your chin as it drips from the fresh picked corn. Farm to table dining is big here, and there are tours available where you can visit a local farm and savour the dishes prepared from their bounty a few hours later.
A Taste of Mexico
You’ll find authentic Mexican culture throughout the WA area of this region. The stores sell an abundance of authentic ingredients including an amazing variety of chilli peppers. Take some time to stop and enjoy the variety of Mexican flavours in the many restaurants along the way.
