There’s something interesting happening throughout Route 97 in every season. This winter, bring on the snow, the wine, the music and the food! The temperatures may be cooler, but the events are as hot as ever. Celebrate on a mountain top and down in the valley. Enjoy mouth dropping fireworks displays outdoors. Head indoors for mouthwatering food and wine pairing. Winter Carnivals, light ups, opening days and more are yours to enjoy all around Route 97.
February 3 – 12, 2017. Celebrating Canada’s 150th Birthday. An annual fun-filled, family 10-day festival. There’s over 100 events including dinners and dances. Don’t miss the parade, a snow sculpture competition, and a hot air balloon fiesta.
March 18-19, 2017. Come celebrate spring at Manning Park with the carnival-like atmosphere of some fun ski events. The Streak the Streak Race, the Slush Cup and the Dummy Downhill are all part of the rollicking good fun planned for Spring Fest 2017!
April 7-8, 2017. Since 1996, The Okanagan Fest of Ale has been bringing together craft beer lovers and craft brewers to celebrate the almighty ale! Early every April, Penticton is host to one of the largest and longest running annual beer festivals in the Pacific Northwest. This two-day event features great entertainment, fabulous food and the opportunity to sample a diverse array of quality crafted beverages.
April 23, 2017. Cool the Earth, your actions matter! The Leavenworth Earth Day fair is a family event designed to explore various sustainability practices, daily living and a healthy climate future! With hands on education booths, live music and a silent auction!
May 4-14, 2017. Experience great wine, good food, and awesome friends. Amongst the Signature Events, some popular annual festivities along with new activities are on tap for this year. The return of the iconic WestJet Wine Tastings; a party with wineries from across the entire Valley comes to you at the Laurel Packing House, as well as the always popular Iron Sommelier BC wine and food pairing competition at Okanagan College.
Year Round Fun
Choose from a wide variety of festivals that celebrate music, fruit, wine or art. There are Pow Wows, rodeos, and agricultural events. There’s also long weekend celebrations on both sides of the border. Plan ahead so you fit as much as possible into your road trip.
Must-attend events in British Columbia include the IPE (Interior Provincial exhibition) in Armstrong, the Kamloopa Pow Wow in Kamloops. There’s also seasonal wine festivals throughout the area. Other fun events include: Feast of Fields in the Okanagan and the Stan Thompson Memorial Rodeo in Princeton. We celebrate music too! Funtastic in Vernon has a music festival and the Elvis Festival in Penticton will get you all shook up. 2017 is also the 25th Annual Salmon Arm, Roots and Blues Festival.
In Washington State, plan to attend the Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival, the Omak Stampede and Indian Encampment and Pow Wow. Maifest and Kinderfest in Leavenworth are always enjoyable as is the Pateros Apple Pie Jamboree. The Wenatchee area has several events including the Wenatchee River Bluegrass Festival and the North Central Washington District Fair. There’s also the Chelan County Fair, Wenatchee Wine and food Festival and Fiestas Mexicanas.
