About Us

Established in the heart of Okanagan Wine Country, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery is located on Highway 97 just north of the charming lakeside town of Summerland, British Columbia. Sumac Ridge is the oldest operating estate winery in the province and was founded by Harry McWatters. Since the 1800s, the area’s combination of sparkling water, brilliant sun and fertile land has made it ideal for growing grapes.

Sumac Ridge Estate Winery is the iconic location of three unique brands, Sumac Ridge, Black Sage Vineyard and Steller’s Jay. As B.C.’s first estate winery, Sumac Ridge has always been dedicated to producing premium 100% British Columbia grown wines that celebrate the essence of the Okanagan Valley. The VQA approved, award-winning Private Reserve wines are created with food in mind and to fit all occasions and celebrations.  Steller’s Jay sparkling wines are handcrafted using the French traditional Methode Classique.
