Wine Trail

It’s wine time throughout the Interior Cascades Corridor of Route 97. Follow the wine trail and taste the understated difference an extra hour of sunshine adds to a Merlot. Enjoy the subtle changes in Viognier as you travel from south to north. Find your favourite Chardonnay or Pinot Gris, Cab Franc or Syrah. Swirl, sniff and sip in log cabins or on patios overlooking lakes, rivers, hills and mountains. Buy a bottle of wine and picnic in the vineyard at boutique wineries. Listen to live music, attend a small plates reception under the stars or take a wine pairing class. Dine in a world class restaurant, enjoy yoga or take an art class overlooking a vineyard.

Taste Our Terroir

The wineries throughout the Route 97 area have the ancient alpine glacial activity of the Interior Cascades region to thank for its terroir. Many of the wineries on our wine trail are near lakes which can moderate the temperature during the growing season. Others, are located near the desert where scorching heat and wind combine with the terroir to create the signature flavours of the region.

Find Your New Favourite

At most of our wineries you can ask questions directly to the people who grow the grapes and create your wines. You may find a new favourite as you discover the passion and creativity that goes into the wines along our wine route. Some wineries have vintages from a single row of grapes, others play music to their wines as they mature. You may find a favourite wine at one of our wine events, like the Spring Wine Festival in the Okanagan.

Winery Events

Our winery events happen year round. This spring there are several events to take in on both sides of the border. Here is a list of some you may enjoy.

Tour in Style

Create your own road trip. The scenery throughout Route 97 is naturally intoxicating with spectacular views from our winery patios and tasting rooms. Choose from over 75 wineries in the vicinity of Route 97 in Okanogan, Chelan and Douglas Counties in WA and over 120 in the Thompson Okanagan in BC.

Pick a designated driver, or better yet, go on a wine tour. Your touring options are almost as varied as the types of wines you’ll sample. Gather with friends and personalize your tour, or take one of our comfortable tours where there’s always room for your wine. In Lake Chelan you can take a limousine or seaplane tour of the wineries. Hop on a helicopter in the Thompson Okanagan and be greeted with a glass of wine when you land.

 Wine Trails, Thompson Okanagan, CA

There are many wine trails throughout our area. Take a self-guided tour or sign up with one of the many tour operators. You can tour by bus, luxury SUV, electric bike, regular bike and even by kayak! From the Kamloops Wine Trail in the north, the Golden Mile in the South and the Similkameen Valley in the west, and the Shuswap in the east, you’ll find plenty of varietals to swirl, sniff, and sip.

More Than Wine

While our wineries do create national and international award winning wines, they are also a great place to kick back and relax. Get a bite to eat at a casual restaurant, pack a picnic lunch to eat on the grounds, or pamper yourself with a four-course meal paired to perfection.
