Winter Events

Bring on the snow! And the wine and the ale and the music and the food! The temperatures may be cooler, but the events are as hot as ever on Route 97. Celebrate on a mountaintop or down in the valley. Enjoy mouth dropping fireworks displays outdoors and mouthwatering food and wine pairing indoors. Winter Carnivals, light ups, opening days and more are yours to enjoy all along Route 97.


Winter in Wine Country

Late November to early December at various wineries throughout the Oliver and Osoyoos areas in the South Okanagan. Includes winery open houses, winery tours, Festival of Trees, Light Ups and more.

Big Reds at Big White

In December, Come and sample cellar-worthy wines, while interacting with the winemakers, in a relaxed and informal setting. You’ll have the opportunity to sample new releases from each of the participating Okanagan wineries.

Wildlights Festival in Kamloops

Fun family fun with story time, a scavenger hunt, colouring contests, movies under the Wildlights in the Amphitheatre, light displays, a holiday maze, shopping, delicious food and the Wildlife Express Miniature Train!

Sun Peaks Winter Okanagan Wine Festival

Wine crawls, Spirited Apres, wine and dine, pinot and paper lanterns and a blind tasting are just a few of the dozens of events during this winter wine fest on the mountain. Restaurants throughout the alpine village feature uniquely designed menus paired with British Columbia wines.

Vernon Winter Carnival

An annual fun-filled, family 10-day festival with over 100 events. There’s a parade, a snow sculpture competition, a hot air balloon fiesta, dinners, dances and more!


Leavenworth Christmas Lighting Festival and Village of Lights

For the first three weeks of December, the entire town transforms with sleigh and dogsled rides, handbell choirs, traditional Christmas treats and visits from Mr and Mrs Claus. Lighting ceremonies each Saturday and Sunday that illuminates the village with over a half a million lights!

Christmas on the Mountain at Mission Ridge

Meet up in Base Area A for a free family event. Face painting, gingerbread decorating, and a reading of how the Grinch Stole Christmas. There’s even a special visit from Santa. Stick around until nightfall to see the stunning Torch Light Parade!

Lake Chelan Winterfest

Two weekends of incredible ice sculptures, live music, wine tasting, ale tasting, activities for kids of all ages, a polar bear splash, massive beach bonfire, spectacular fireworks show and more!

Wenatchee – Washington State Special Olympics – Winter Games

Typically held the last weekend in February in Wenatchee. Several local venues participate in this event that includes and opening ceremony at Town Toyota Center, Nordic skiing in Leavenworth, Alpine events at Mission Ridge and basketball in town.
