SilverStar Village

Play Your Way at SilverStar Mountain Resort

Thick in the winter season and considering a new winter activity? Luckily, there are so many throughout Route 97 and mountain resorts are a great place to find them.

Nestled in the heart of the Thompson Okanagan, British Columbia, SilverStar Mountain Resort is home to a quaint colourful ski village. While they boast the third largest ski area in BC, the resort is host to a sweeping variety of non-ski activities.

Here are a few ideas to get you started. Read on to find out how you can win a 2-day getaway to SilverStar Resort.

Fat Biking

Fat biking is an all-terrain adventure that enables alpine biking in deep snow. The modified bikes are designed with over-sized tires, allowing you to take on the mountainous terrain all through winter. With the option of an organised tour and 15 kilometres (9 miles) of fat bike trails, SilverStar has all you need to give this activity a try for the first time.

Mini Snowmobiles

Mini Sleds are perfect for the young adventurer! A great taster in a controlled environment, watch your youngsters face light up with excitement as they ride these mini snowmobiles round and round on a designated fenced track.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing has been the longest past time for winter enthusiasts. Breathe in the mountain air and feel the freedom of the outdoors. SilverStar offers 16 kilometres (10 miles) of single track trails weaving through the alpine woods and lower cross-country trails. Bring the dogs with you and reward yourself with a tasty hot chocolate after your walk.

Tubing

If you’ve ever been tubing, you’ll know it can provide hours of family fun. Check out “Tube Town” and hit the runs in a truck-sized inner tube (with safety handles, of course). You can travel down individually, as a couple, or the whole family can come with you. Bonus: The tube lift lets you make run after run without having to hike back up with your tube.
