Unique Adventures Route 97 Style
There are several ways to get out and enjoy your Route 97 adventure. We found some unique ways for you to get out and explore. Have a cowboy adventure as you sit high in the saddle and work up an appetite for a delicious meal. Then take a tour of the central Okanagan from a jet boat or Segway through the Shuswap.
Ride and Dine
Imagine the relaxation of being in the saddle, immersed in nature, and enjoying unique vistas of beautiful Big White Mountain in summertime. Start with a gentle walking pace to suit your personal comfort level. Then canter along a forest trail. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and you listen to the stories of experienced local guides. After your ride, indulge in a delicious post-ride wine and cheese tasting on the Globe patio. Chat with the locals to celebrate your new-found horsemanship.
Should you require more saddle time, try being a cowboy for a day. Enjoy a big cowboy breakfast at Globe over a warm welcome from our cowboys before embarking on a six-hour guided ride. Along the way, you’ll stop to enjoy a picnic lunch, snacks and drinks.
Shuswap on a Seqway!
Get out and see nature in a whole new way on a Segway. Shuswap Unique Adventure Tours (BC’s premier Segway tour company) offers several tours for the whole family. Try their fabulous two-hour tour through Roderick Haig-Brown Park; home to the famous Adams River sockeye salmon spawning grounds. You’ll travel through rich foliage and have a chance to see waterfowl, beaver and deer.
They also offer a tour through Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. Glide under the canopy of the forest and alongside a sunny Shuswap beach trail. This tour is 80% paved and is a great way to explore. Pack a picnic lunch and your swimsuit!
Turn and Burn on Okanagan Lake
Pack sunscreen, a towel, your swimsuit and your “waterproof” camera/phone to get ready for your turn and burn adventure. Kelowna Jet Boat Adventures is the first of its kind in the Okanagan Valley. It’s the only high speed boat charter on Okanagan Lake. Their unique boat has been developed for fast take offs, high speeds and exciting maneuvers. It’s all for your thrill and entertainment.
You’ll see downtown Kelowna and City Park Beach from the water before heading under the bridge towards Gyro Beach and the Eldorado Hotel. Take in the sights such as the beautiful lower mission and the Summerhill Pyramid Winery. You’ll scoot across the lake to Casa Loma Resort and the Shelter Bay Marina. Take in the great views of William R. Bennett Bridge and the Old Ferry Wharf before heading over to Bear Creek Provincial Park then back past Knox Mountain and Manhattan Point.
This boat is custom built by Smoky Mountain Jet Boats and can carry up to 11 passengers. Powered by a marine power 502 that boast over 400 hp and it’s capable of doing over 80 km/h (50 mph). You’ll spin into a frenzy as they perform all the spins and fish tails you can handle.
